Melancholic antidepressant
Apothek filled Jaeger’s basement with contrasting electronica.
A blonde, smiling Nils Martin Larsen dances behind the mixing desk, next to a very serious, slightly nervous Morten Myklebust. Together they make an almost comical and rather contrasting duo. Surprisingly enough, it is Myklebust who dishes out the comical inputs between songs, to great response from the audience.
The band, which on its own Facebook page describes itself as «a child of its time», offers electronica with clean vocals and strong lyrics as their concept. This is accompanied by obscure, light synth sound, which captivates in a pleasing way.
A set consisting of varied songs with a clear underlying thread creates a solid whole throughout the concert. The songs are sufficiently different so you never get bored. The combination of Larsen's pulsating electronic synth sound and Myklebust's outstanding voice creates harmony between electro and text heavy melancholy.
The icing on the cake one is the seemingly perfect interplay of sound, smoke and light show. In combination with the band's distinctive sound, this represents the main achievement of a
comprehensive obscure atmosphere. Although the basement of Jaeger is narrower than Harry Potter's broom closet, the sound is surprisingly good wherever you are standing. Both pushed into a speaker, or at the back of the bar.

Halfway through the concert, ‘Family’ and ‘Waiting for the Thunder’ are played, the two songs so far released. The atmosphere and the response from the public indicate that both familiar and new material is equally well received.
The last song, ‘Inheritance’, stands out from the rest of the set. Associations with The Weeknd’s ‘The Hills’, as increased bass and use of varied heavier electronic elements constitute a natural yet exciting finish.
The guys are booked for the Øya festival, and will soon be releasing a new single. So if you're the kind who puts your pride in name-dropping potential new shooting stars from the music universe at parties, this is a golden opportunity.
