Cultural Calendar: September

Summer is over, the semester has already started, and it’s time to move past the welcome weeks. Whether you are new in Oslo or getting back to your routine, the best thing you can do is to keep yourself active while the good weather stays with us! Don’t even think about the mørketid –dark times– yet; that is a problem for future you. For now, explore what the city has to offer!

The Rose Castle

The Rose Castle, or Roseslottet, is an outdoor art installation in the forest above Oslo. Through 300 artworks (including paintings, sculptures and light and sound installations) The Rose Castle tells the story of occupation in Norway from 1940 to 1945. It normally has an entrance fee, but it will have free entrance until the 4th of September for all students!

Market day in Bogstadveien

Twice a year, every spring and autumn since 1988, there are market days in Bogstadveien, Hegdehaugsveien, and Valkyriegata. The streets are closed to cars and trams and filled with stalls on both sides, a whole 1.2 kilometers of exciting experiences and student friendly prices! Join this vibrant open marketplace and experience an unforgettable atmosphere in the streets of Oslo.

UNG After Hours X Floke

As part of their Youth Program (UNG), After Hours invites you to a unique offer in the Munch museum. After closing time you will be able explore a dynamic mix of music, food and workshops in an intimate setting. By transforming the museum into a living space for community, they aim to inspire creativity

Ultima Contemporary Music Festival

Ultima is a festival that brings together innovative music, community, and the sound of a world in constant change. Every September, Ultima takes over Oslo with ten days of concerts, installations, theatre, opera, dance, film, talks and more! Their programme includes plenty of free events, and they also have discounts for people under 30.

Oslo Humorfest

Oslo Humorfest is back with a new program in September! Their events will range from standup, improv, game shows, bingo, live podcasts and much more, delivered by some of the country's funniest comedians and entertainers. They will hold events both in Norwegian and in English. Their program is updated continuously as new dates are confirmed, so stay tuned on their website!
