Looking to extend fall break just a little more with some fun extracurricular activities? We’ve got you covered! From art, to talks at the Nobel Peace Center, to documentary screenings, enjoy this week's culture calendar!

If art is your thing, look no further. Last week marked the debut of Astrup Fearnley’s Antibodies exhibit which showcases the work of the American contemporary artist, Josh Kline. Now you can avoid the opening week crowds by heading there any day this week (other than Monday, when the museum is closed).

Every fall, the Kunstnernes Hus puts on a exhibition of up and coming contemporary Scandinavian artists. This annual tradition dates all the way back to 1882 and this year the show continues as usual, though with the requirement of social distancing.

If you watched the U.S. Presidential Debate and want to learn more about the U.S. discussion on race and activism, attend the Kunsternenes Hus’ cinema to see “What You Gonna Do When the World’s on Fire?” a film about the politics of marginalization in the southern states on Sunday, October 11th.

Have you heard of the Henie Onstad Art Center? Fall is the perfect time to explore some areas outside of Oslo so hop onto the 160 bus from Nationaltheatret to take a day trip out to this great contemporary art museum! Ever notice psychedelic infinity rooms or pumpkins with polka dots on your Instagram feed? The Henie Onstad Center has an ongoing exhibit by Yayoi Kusama, so now you too can partake in the immersive artistic experience!

If you want to make art yourself, take a class with Her Space! This week they have several classes on watercolour painting, drawing and pastels. Though the class fee is on the more expensive side, all materials are provided and the classes are held in English. So whether you’re looking to brush up on your art skills or whether you’ve never held a paintbrush in your life, take inspiration from the Oslo fall colors and make some art of your own!

On Wednesday, October 7th, celebrate the 20th anniversary of the UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security by heading to the Nobel Peace Centre for Oslo Pax 2020. This year the theme, “Diversity Matters: Gender and Inclusion in Peace and War” includes a line-up of authors, activists, researchers, business executives, and Nobel Peace Prize recipients. This is an event you won’t want to miss!

Remember to sign up for these events in advance by clicking on the links and buying or reserving your ticket online. Hope you find some time to enjoy yourself during this chilly October week by partaking in some of these activities!
