Delaying Grades

Publisert

Delays in the marking of assessment essays at the Law Faculty have disadvantaged recently trained barristers in their job hunt. Thomas Howards says that the results of his assessment essay were due on 23 December, but did not arrive until the 15 January. As a result, he was unable to hand in his final degree certificate with his application packs, and risks not having his applications considered by potential employers. The newly trained barrister points out that while the University stamps down on late submissions of essays – threatening a six-month delay if students hand in their essays even one day late -, it breaks deadlines at its own convenience.

He adds that he was unconvinced by the Law Faculty\'s attempt to blame the delays in marking his essay on the many holidays during Christmas. As he points out, there are no holidays prior to 23 December.
