Christmas Break

The University Director\'s proposal to divide the academic year into two equally long terms – with the autumn term to end in January, threatening the traditional Christmas break – fell by one vote in the University Senate. Instead, the Senate voted in favour of introducing a 19 week autumn term, which is to begin in the middle of August and end around the 21 December. The spring term will last 21 weeks, from the New Year until the end of June.
