Compromising Health

Publisert

The government\'s recent compromise on the national budget with FrP (The Progress Party) means that all state support for the University Health Service will be eliminated from the beginning of the coming year. A quarter of the Health Service\'s revenue is currently derived from state support. In future, students may have to pay for medical consultations themselves. Cecilie Daae, Chief Medical officer at the Oslo Health Service points out that the results of such a budgetary adjustment will be noticeable almost immediately. Daae points out that the Health Service offers pivotal expertise on student health, and that the services offered at the University contribute to keeping illness among the student population as a whole low. The final decision on state support for the University Health Service will fall in connection with the parliamentary Educational Committee\'s recommendation on 6 December.
