Gendering Philosophy

The University Senate has rejected a recent proposal for a new syllabus for ex.phil., the compulsory course in introductory philosophy. The reason is that the new syllabus does not contain enough literature on women philosophers. Camilla Serck-Hanssen, one of five members of the academic committee responsible for the proposal, points out that women have only been able to contribute to philosophy on a par with men in recent times.
