No Problemo? – No teaching
35 of the students studying for a Bachelor\'s degree in Spanish have been barred from tutorials. The reason is that they have failed the compulsory Spanish test which is intended to evaluate students\' understanding of Spanish language and grammar. Leslie Rose, Student Officer at the Institute for Classical and Roman Studies, says that the students\' chances of passing their exams is small without being allowed to participate in the tutorials. A number of students have complained that they were not previously informed that a knowledge of Spanish was required in order to qualify for teaching.
No Access
Due to the closure of the University library (UB), students are now denied access to what are normally the open collections. The library has now made it possible for students to order books from the stacks and other libraries; the open collection – amounting to about a quarter of the library\'s stock of two million books – continues unavailable to students. These are, however, exactly the books that are most used by students, and the library is now working to find a solution to provide students with the books they require.
