Student Discount

As of Monday 19 August students at the University of Oslo have been able to purchase a monthly season ticket for public transport within Oslo at a 40 per cent discount. Student and environmental organisations have been working for reduced student rates on public transport for several years, and leader of NSU (The Norwegian Students\' Union) Kamil Azhar is extremely pleased. – This is a step in the right direction, he observes, adding that he hopes that the student discount may yet be increased to 50 per cent.

The new season tickets cost 375 kroner and are available at Trafikanten customer information centre, the ticket office at National Theatre station, Sporveien\'s customer centre at Økern and Lodd- og Billettboxen at Lille Grensen. Students wishing to purchase a discount ticket must provide a passport-sized photograph and produce a valid student identity card, a receipt showing that they have paid their term fees, and other identification.
