Culture calendar 19th – 25th April
The lockdown makes it hard for everyone to have a good time, yet we have some outdoor activities, online events, and recommendations you may enjoy.
Places to visit:
Stovner Tower (Norway’s longest tower): This magnificent tower is not far from Oslo S. It is a good spot to meet friends, have a romantic date, look at the view or simply go for a long hike. The tower stands 215 meters above sea level and is 265 meters long. The architects behind the Stovner Tower took inspiration from bird’s flight. As a visitor, you may have a walk among the treetops and be accompanied by the birds. It provides a sense of calmness, enhanced by the beautiful sunset view over the city and the hills. This public tower is open to the public 24/7. The tower is situated behind the Stovner Shopping Centre. You can get to the tower by walking along Karl Fossums vei, Fossumbegret or Olaus Fjrtofts vei.
Roseslottet: This large-scale art installation in Holmenkollen commemorates 80 years since the attack on Norway in 1940 and the 75th anniversary of Norway’s liberation in 1945. Find out about the lesser-known aspects of the occupation, such as the sufferings of prisoners of war, everyday life, the drama of war sailors and the resistance struggles. The installation consists of more than 100 paintings by famous artist Vebjørn Sand as well as sculptures by Vebjørn and Eimund Sand. The artistic language engages, challenges and confronts. The entry to this place for students is only 70 kroner and it is open every day from 10am to 11pm.

Bortført: This thriller drama, translated as «Abducted», is a story about a girl who flies to Israel for her birthday, but nothing goes according to the plan as she is abducted by a terrorist organization that has certain demands from the Norwegian government. The demand from the kidnappers is simple: they want twelve prisoners released in Israel and one in Norway as soon as possible. If not, the hostages will be executed. The series takes place in different countries, with different cultures. Follow the story of Pia, a 24-year-old girl and her family, who will do anything to save her.
